1964 Relic® Jazz Bass®

The foundation of American music is built on the Fender® bass. Think about your favourite rock band. Chances are, the bassist was laying it down on none other than a Fender bass. Some of the most significant tracks were done using a Fender Jazz Bass, and here – in all its glory – is the legendary 1964 model offered in three finishes (Relic, Closet Classic and NOS). The ’64 J Bass® features an alder body with a maple neck and a round laminate rosewood fingerboard. Nickel/chrome hardware, vintage reverse tuning machines and a four-ply tortoiseshell pick-guard complete the package.

Accompanied by a black vinyl case, strap and cable.  The 1964 Fender Jazz Bass is appreciated for its warm, engaging swing in the neck position and its throaty, present definition in the bridge position.

This faithful replication of the 1964 Jazz captures both of those voices perfectly, and does so in an instrument that invokes the spirit of the innovators who first explored the potential vocabulary of the Jazz Bass, and even the mysteries of time itself.

The sculpted alder body, the nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the vintage bridge with ashtray pickup cover complete with the large "F" logo, all combine to create the extraordinary feel of this great bass guitar. The relic treatment adds the finishing touch in vaulting across the decades with this beautiful bass.

Additional details include the iconic neck pickup cover, the slender neck and comfortable "U" neck shape, a quartersawn maple neck and Indian rosewood fretboard, and a four-ply tortoise pickguard. The electronics are likewise faithful to the original, with two full-size volume knobs and the smaller tone knob. It's a masterpiece, truly an elegant instrument.

I'm not a bass guitarist so I rarely only need one to stand in or play bass at home. However, I still wanted a bass and only one bass ever interested me, the Jazz Bass. Perhaps, not as popular as the Precision Bass but still one of the iconic bass sounds. Initially, It must have been the look and feel of guitar combined with artist associations. Anyway my Jazz Bass is another great fender custom shop guitar. It's a relic like my strat and I like the relic Jazz Bass for all the same reasons. For a guitarist the Jazz Bass is a bit friendlier with the thin with at the nut but the 34" scale is still a long stretch.

I only ever wanted one bass guitar, the Jazzmaster. It's a good fit for my requirements.
